Ogwashi-Uku, Delta State — August 2, 2025 It was a day of victory, excitement, and unity at Delta State Polytechnic, Ogwashi-Uku (DSPG) as the winners of the Students’ Union Government (SUG) and National Association of Delta State Students (NADESSTU) elections were officially announced for the 2025/2026 academic session.
The online elections, held on Saturday, August 2nd, 2025, were peaceful, transparent, and highly competitive, producing a fresh team of student leaders ready to represent and serve the interests of the entire student body. A few positions, however, were uncontested, with the candidates returned unopposed.
SUG Election Results:
- President – Comrade Thomas Godswill (517 votes)
- Vice President – Comrade Ofuezuem Anwuli Joy (626 votes)
- Financial Secretary – Comrade Obioma Miracle (558 votes)
- Director of Sports – Comrade Onotu Daniel Ifeanyi (491 votes)
- Director of Transport – Comrade Nwanodu Micheal Uchechukwu (372 votes)
- Director of Welfare – Comrade Orisa Precious (534 votes)
- Secretary General – Returned unopposed
- Publicity Secretary – Returned unopposed
NADESSTU Election Results:
- President – Comrade Igbeni Miracle Oluchukwu (568 votes)
- Secretary General – Comrade Abamba Dumebi Justice (328 votes)
- Director of Welfare – Comrade Isitua Ijeoma Augustina (352 votes)
- Other Positions – Returned unopposed
Official Declaration and Commendation
The Chief Electoral Officer, Mr. Franklin Agetue (Dean of Student Affairs), announced the results, congratulating all candidates for their maturity, sportsmanship, and peaceful conduct. He also praised the students for their discipline and full participation in the democratic process.
“The conduct of the students during the election was commendable. We witnessed a transparent and competitive process that reflects true democratic values,” he noted.
High-Powered Delegation Observed the Election
The election was closely monitored at the institution’s ICT unit by a high-powered delegation led by the Rector, Bldr. Prof. Emmanuel Achuenu, who congratulated the winners and commended the process.
“In every election, there will be winners and losers. However, what truly matters is teamwork. Both sides must now come together to build a stronger, united student body,” Prof. Achuenu said.
He described the exercise as “the most seamless student election” he had witnessed and applauded the Deputy Rector, ICT personnel, Dean of Student Affairs, and election committee for their efforts.
