DSPG Council in Hot Water: Police Reveal Shocking Misconduct

The Governing Council of Delta State Polytechnic, Ogwashi-Uku (DSPG) is currently facing serious trouble after a new police investigation revealed that the Council broke important school rules and acted beyond its legal powers.

According to an official police report dated July 3, 2025, and signed by SP Inusa Danyaya, Commander of the Eagle Net Special Squad under the Delta State Police Command, the Council was found guilty of ignoring the institution’s normal disciplinary process. The police said the Council tried to punish people without first allowing the school’s internal investigation to finish properly — a move described as “acting ultra vires,” which means going beyond their legal powers.

The report, titled “Case of Certificate Forgery and Publication of Defamatory Matter” with file number CR: 22/2025, explained how the Council bypassed proper procedure in dealing with allegations of certificate forgery and defamation involving one Mr. Nduka Charles and others.

A petition was originally submitted on February 21, 2025, by the school’s Deputy Rector, Dr. Joy Erere Anho, accusing Mr. Charles and others of faking documents and spreading false stories (defamation). The allegations were serious and involved potential criminal offenses such as forgery, abuse of office, and official corruption.

However, when the Chairman of the Governing Council, Mr. Adingwupu, was called in for questioning, he refused to speak to the police, claiming the case was already in court and saying he didn’t need to comment.

Despite his silence, the police continued their investigation and concluded that there was enough evidence (a prima facie case) to charge several people, including:

  • Temienor Ogaga Agomataye
  • Nduka Charles
  • Other unnamed suspects who are still on the run

The police said these suspects were involved in forgery, conspiracy, corruption, and abuse of office. These crimes are against several sections of the Nigerian Criminal Code, such as Sections 516A, 467, 473, 98(a), 104, 404, and 474.

The police report recommended that the suspects be taken to court and tried properly. It also urged authorities to find and arrest others still hiding, including people named Armstrong, Agofure, and Collins, who were mentioned during the investigation.

As of now, the suspects already arrested have been brought before a High Court in Ogwashi-Uku, led by Hon. Justice Okpu. They have been remanded in prison at the Ogwashi-Uku Correctional Center while they await further court hearings.

This situation has raised big questions about how the Governing Council runs school affairs and whether proper checks and balances are being followed in DSPG.
