Donald Trump, the President-elect, has announced the appointment of Susie Wiles as his White House Chief of Staff, making history as the first woman to ever hold the position.

Trump praised Wiles, referring to her as the “winner campaign manager” who was instrumental in his political successes, particularly in Florida and during his 2024 campaign.

The announcement, made via Trump’s campaign account on X, highlighted Wiles’ reputation as a respected and skilled strategist. Trump expressed that Wiles’ appointment is a fitting reward for her contributions, calling her “tough, smart, innovative, and universally admired.”

The Chief of Staff role, considered one of the most significant positions in the executive branch, involves advising the president, acting as a gatekeeper, and facilitating communication with Congress and government agencies.

Vice President-elect JD Vance also praised Wiles, noting her contributions to Trump’s campaign and anticipating her value to the administration.

Wiles, 67, has an extensive background in politics, having previously worked on Ronald Reagan’s campaign and for various governors before managing Trump’s 2016 Florida campaign and his political fundraising initiatives through the Save America PAC.

As Trump begins assembling his administration, other key appointments, such as the Secretary of State, remain under consideration, with figures like Marco Rubio, Ric Grenell, and former Secretary Mike Pompeo among potential candidates.
