Popular Tanzanian singer and songwriter, Diamond Platnumz explained how featuring Davido in 2013 almost got him bankrupted.
He explained how he spent ten times more than what he used to spend on his previous music projects featuring Davido on the remix of ‘Number One’.
The singer in an exclusive chat with Nairobi News said, it was wise to spread his fame to west Africa having conquered East Africa and Davido was the best option for his project.
He said that the money he used to feature Davido was too much for him that he had to approach several banks for loans to enable him to finance the video shoot for the ‘Number One’ remix.
He said “I took loans from Tanzania banks to finance my video and collaborate with Davido in Lagos because I had to travel there with my crew”
According to him, he spent KSH 326, 000 for his first video version of ‘Number One’s which was done by Ogopa Djs in Nairobi but I went ten times higher and spent KSH 3.3 million or thereabouts to fly Ogopa Djs video crew to Cape Town, South Africa and shoot the video. Stating that the outcome was amazing which gave him the green light to approach Davido for the remix”
However, the singer also noted that he may have spent a lot on the project and nearly went broke but he does not regret the move as his collaboration with OBO opened new doors for him, offers him a new market and opportunities which gave him the money to jump-start his label WCB.
