Honorable Odinigwe Odigie, the Commissioner for Science and Technology in Delta State, resumed duty at his office on Monday.
The Commissioner while in a meeting with all the Directors in the ministry, thanked them for their warm reception, adding that he is looking forward to working with everyone successfully.
He said they would need to start bit by bit as they get to know themselves better.
According to Hon Odigie, “I am very straightforward and a good team player. I’m open to new things. This is the time of technology and IT in Nigeria.
“I believe in everyone present here because you guys will bring in your ideas for the ministry to move forward. “
“It’s all about advancing Delta with the MORE AGENDA. Making everything more for Deltans as we are expected to do more than the previous administration and the previous Ministry of Science and Technology.
He added that from the people and things he had seen so far in the ministry, he doesn’t think there will be a problem.
“We have capable people and I have seen and worked with a couple of them. I have faith in them and I believe we’ll be able to bring our heads, spirits, and minds to be like minds so we can move the state forward in line with our governor, His Excellency Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, on everything he wants and most importantly to the good people of Delta State. I am looking forward to working with everyone as I am a person of little speeches, and I like more action.
Responding, the permanent secretary of the ministry, Dr. Oghenega Ejiro Isreal, said there are eight departments consisting of three mandatory departments and five professional departments with their assigned responsibilities.
He also said there is supervision of Project E and the Delta State Innovation Hub in the ministry.
Dr. Oghenega congratulated Hon. Odigie on his appointment as the new commissioner of Science and Technology.
He said they are not surprised that Hon. Odigie was deployed to the ministry because it’s based on his capacity adding that they support him to the fullest to ensure that he succeeds in delivering the MORE Agenda to all Deltans.
The Director of Administration, Mrs. E L Ekeke; the Director of Information Communications Technology, Mr. Rocky Ighoyota; the Director of Finance & Account, Mr. Emiro N E; the Director of Physical & Energy Science, Mrs. S Chijuka; the Director of Chemical & Industrial Technology, Mr. J Olojoba; Director of Natural & Biotechnology Development, Mr. C U. Egbregba; Director of Planning Research & Statistics, Mr. B E Itie; Director of Science & Technology Development, Mrs. Nkechi P. Chukwurah and other staffs of the ministry were present at the meeting.
