Delta police arrested fake soldiers, robbers, cultists, recovered weapons

The Delta State Police Command has announced the arrest of two fake soldiers for impersonation and also arrest some suspected armed robbers and suspected cultists in the state.

This was disclosed in a statement by the acting Spokesperson for the State Police Command, DSP Edafe Bright, on Friday, May 7, in Asaba, the state capital.

According to the statement, it was gathered that on Wednesday, May 5, at about 1 pm, the DPO of Ogborikoko Police Division received information that Jemilia Suleman ‘of age 48 years, a native of Plateau State with one Monagor Charles ‘m’ age 61 years of Ndokwa East LGA Area of Delta State were found wearing military uniforms and lodged in Beji Court Hotel in Bendel Estate off Airport road Effurun.

Getting the information, the DPO of Ogborikoko Division, CSP Martha Ikong detailed and led surveillance operatives in conjunction with the military personnel to the hotel where the suspects were apprehended and items recovered from them include 10 pairs of military camouflage uniforms, six T-shirt, jungle caps, one T-shirt and singlet.

The lady suspect also confessed that she bought the military uniform in the market and use it in earning a living as the investigation is still ongoing.

Also, on Friday, April 30, at about 4:30 am, the DPO of Division Police Division received information from Elu vigilante member that one Etor Lucky ‘m’ age 20 years of Elu community and two other members of Viking Confrantanity were disrupting a social wake keeping and harassing guest in the community.

The DPO of Ozoro Division on quick response, mobilized the police patrol team to the scene and arrested the said suspect (Etor Lucky), and recovered a cut-to-size locally-made single-barrel gun while the investigation is still ongoing.

In another vein, on Monday, May 5, at about 2:30 pm, in Ughoton community, Okpe LGA Area, the DPO in Orerokpe Police Division received information from a distress call that one Efe Lucky and Ramson Akpojibu both ‘m’ of Ughoton community brought a patient name Christian Surname unknown ‘m’ to Moving Star Clinic Warri and where he was certified dead.

According to information gathered that the duo who brought the deceased were stain with blood on their clothes and was about to abscond when the detective from the Orerokpe Division stormed the clinic, view the corpse, and find out that there were signs of violence on the body of the deceased. The corpse was photographed and deposited at the Orerokpe General Hospital mortuary.

The Police however arrested the two suspects Efe Lucky and Ramson Akpojibu, they were taken to their premises for search and blood stained cutlass, hammer, and blood-soaked towel were recovered.

The suspect confessed that they were five in number that beat up the deceased to death over allegation of stealing their three thousand naira (N3, 000.00) and phones, while effort is ongoing to arrest the three other suspects. Meanwhile, the State Commissioner of Police, CP Ari Muhammed Ali, has ordered that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation.

Also, on Wednesday, May 5, at about 4:05 am, the DPO of Oghara Police Division received a distress call from an Indigene of Ijomi village that in his compound at the above village, his dogs started barking signifying the presence of danger within the compound that he came out to inspect what was happening when he saw two armed boys.

The DPO in quick response deployed patrol team to the scene, suspects on sighting the police, took to their heels then ran into the nearby bush which was later combed by a combined team of police and vigilante teams where one Ugbaudu Williams ‘m’ 31 years a.k.a Beleke, a notorious criminal was found fatally shot on his right hand and was seriously bleeding and confessed that he was shot by one Desmond his partner in crime.

He was taken to his house for a search where another locally made barrel gun was recovered with two live cartridges, one expanded cartridge was also recovered before he was rushed to the General hospital Oghara for treatment where he was confirmed dead while receiving treatment. However, the manhunt for the fleeing suspect is ongoing.

While also on Wednesday, May 5, at about 1:30 pm, a patrol team from Okpanam Police Division during a stop and search exercise behind three upstairs Okpanam, a Bajaj (Boxer) motorcycle with Reg. No. AKM 705 VM conveying three persons were intercepted, the rider escaped while the other two accomplices one Friday Worfer, Sunday Panwal, and Emmanuel David all ‘m’ of Ogbe-Obi Quarters in Okpanam were arrested.

It was gathered that when the search was conducted on them, one locally-made pistol and one cartridge were recovered from the suspects, they were suspected to be among the syndicate who rob in Asaba and Okpanam axis mostly at night.

However, the investigation is still ongoing to arrest the other fleeing suspects.
