A group of concerned PDP youth from Isoko extraction has drawn out the attention of the Delta State People’s Democratic Party leadership to take disciplinary actions against the party youth leader, Victor Egbo over his anti-party activities.
The group championed by Amb. Ugagaoghene Ogheneyole made this accusation through a press briefing on Sunday, January 1, 2023, in Asaba, the state capital.
Amb. Ogheneyole in what he described as anti-party taken too far, accused the state youth leader of openly campaigning against the PDP house of representatives flag bearer in Oleh and as Isoko people who are loyal party members are not going to sit down and assemble while somebody is using the name of the party in such a way that will affect them as party members.
He said they are using this press conference to officially notify the party of their grievances and anger against the action of the PDP youth leader who has gone ahead to not even secret but to a public gathering of an opposition party to declare support for the opposition and calling for the people not to support the candidate of the party which he represented.
He also said they are looking forward to the party leadership at the state level to go take action and sanctioning him immediately if not, they’ll take further action.
“We don’t care how far we are going to go to get justice but as young people from the Isoko extraction, we feel that we cannot trust Victor Egbo any longer to lead us into the party election as the youth leader because we cannot entrust our faith in the hands of somebody that is already publicly working against the party at our federal constituency.”
“Victor Egbo could not monster the courage to challenge or reply to candidates of the opposition who have been throwing tantrums at Gov Okowa, Sheriff Oborevwori, and other PDP candidates but was quick to run to the SDP campaign gathering to pitch the people against the very party that gave him a platform as a youth leader. As Isoko Youths, we take serious exception to these ignoble acts.
Do not forget that this same victor Egbo was the same person who packaged a Labour party faithful to gain cheap popularity by embarrassing our dear Governor and vice Presidential candidates over an appointment” he added.
When asked if there was a crisis among the PDP youth in Isoko, he said there was no crisis and there is still no crisis, according to him Egbo’s action is a pure case of abuse of office, the use of an office in a manner that is unlikely of any person that is holding that office.
He explained that “A PDP youth leader is first a member of the party, a position holder of the party, and a representative of the youth of the party. His actions should be seen as promoting the party because the party is different from his community.
It is obvious and normal in our political hemisphere that people can have opposition members or candidates that have an altercation with each other. Whether they belong to any community does not matter but to derail as a party faithful and take party matters into a community issue, to the extent of raising the issues of communal crisis that has been settled by the state and the traditional ruler’s council of Isoko. Talking about murder over an issue affecting 2 communities because of politics, he’s taking politics too far.
Ogheneyole further explained that the candidate of the PDP had no time had any issues with Oleh as a community and that he is maternally from Oleh.
He said “Even though he now had a course to disagree with any son of Oleh does not give the PDP youth leader the right to attend another party’s public campaign function and to come out to identify himself as the PDP youth leader hitting hands-on his chest that he should be quoted that nobody from the community should vote for our candidate. That is unacceptable, totally unacceptable. We can not have a PDP youth leader who is publicly working against our candidate that means we are not ready to win the elections and that is why we are looking up to the leadership of the party led by Kingsley Esiso to deal with this issue decisively if not, we may do it on our way as Isoko youth.
As Youths, our confidence is waning in victor Egbo which is not a good omen ahead of the elections. We are worried by this disloyal act that tends to bring our party to disrepute. Victor Egbo needs to show cause why he went that low. We are law-abiding party loyalists calling for things to be done right as Victor Egbo’s action doesn’t represent the true Isoko spirit. We urge our party at the state level to revise this issue and met appropriate sanctions to forestall such ludicrous vituperation.”
