During the meeting, the council expressed gratitude to the Delta State Government for constituting a Negotiation Committee to facilitate the implementation of the new minimum wage. While acknowledging the government’s efforts, the SEC stressed the need for urgent action to benefit workers.
At the end of the meeting, the following resolutions were reached: The SEC called on the state and local governments to implement the new minimum wage across Delta State without delay. According to the council, the new wage should be effective from 29th July 2024, as outlined in the official circular.

To ensure proper enforcement of the new wage policy, the SEC formed a task force that will monitor both public and private sector compliance in all 25 local government areas. This measure aims to guarantee that the new wage structure is applied consistently throughout the state.
The NLC reaffirmed its readiness to engage in further negotiations related to wage implementation and other labour concerns. The council committed to continued dialogue with the government to secure better working conditions for employees across the state.
