The Delta State Commissioner for Information, Mr. Charles Aniagwu said ahead of the election, the opposition is trying as much as possible to engage in the services of individuals who want to malign the administration of Sen. Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa by bringing out lies and paint stories that are completely at variance with reality.
The Commissioner for Information said this while briefing Journalists on Thursday in Asaba, the state capital.
He said those who are spreading lies ahead of the election are doing so because they want to play dirty politics and they are trying much as possible not to join issues with them.
He also said the PDP has produced and showcased a candidate, who they believe has the capability of uniting Deltans, and he is the person of Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwore.
According to the Information Commissioner, Oborevwore has served as the Speaker of the State House of Assembly for upward of 6 years and within that 6 years, he has been able to pursue a development trajectory that suggests he is indeed a pan Deltan.
Aniagwu said beyond the fact that he is a pan-Deltan, Oborevwore has also demonstrated that he is in touch with the grassroots, and he also has the development agenda of the Okowa-led administration which he will continue.
He said with Oborevwore’s development stride, the PDP is quite convinced that Deltans will be electing another developmental-minded individual that can not be compared with other candidates that are deliberately sectional.
Speaking about Oborevwore’s absence from Arise TV debate, he said they have looked forward to that debate before the postponement of the governorship election.
He said they appreciated the opportunity initiated by Arise TV but opined that the timing for the notice is very short because it affects other activities lined up by their candidate.
