Friday, July 4, 2025 – Asaba, Delta State | The 2024/2025 Nigeria National League (NNL) Super Eight Promotion Play-Offs officially kicked off today with high expectations, as eight top football clubs across Nigeria gather in Delta State to battle for promotion into the prestigious Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).
The weeklong tournament is being held at two major venues – the Stephen Keshi International Stadium in Asaba and the Jay Jay Okocha Stadium in Ogwashi-Uku.
Speaking during the fixture draw ceremony held at the VIP lounge of the Stephen Keshi Stadium, Chairman of the NNL Board, Mr. George Aluo, assured fans, coaches, referees, and the general public that all necessary preparations have been made for a smooth, fair, and exciting tournament.
“We have put everything in place for a hitch-free tournament. There will be no gate fees, so we encourage football fans to come out in large numbers to support the teams and enjoy good football,” Aluo said.
He also praised the clubs that made it to the Super Eight from Conferences A, B, C, and D, adding that none of the teams promoted to the NPFL last season were relegated, which shows the growing strength of the NNL. He gave special commendation to Ikorodu FC for their outstanding performance last season.
Aluo further appreciated the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) for their confidence in the NNL board and thanked the Delta State Government for supporting the league and agreeing to host the competition. He promised that under his leadership, the NNL will continue to improve, noting that the Super Eight is his first official assignment in his second term as Chairman.
