2024-07-10, Asaba, Delta State – The Governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori believes the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidates will win the upcoming Local Government Council elections on July 13, 2024.
Governor Oborevwori made this prediction at a big PDP rally in Asaba on Wednesday. He praised the PDP candidates for campaigning hard, visiting communities, units, and wards across the state.
The Governor also campaigned for the PDP’s chairmanship and councilorship candidates. He criticized a former gubernatorial candidate who had claimed the election would be rigged, saying those who couldn’t win their polling units are now making such allegations.
Governor Oborevwori assured the public that the electoral body has measures in place to ensure free and fair elections. He urged voters to come out on Saturday with their Permanent Voters Cards to support all PDP candidates.
Deputy Governor Sir Monday Onyeme and former Governor Ifeanyi Okowa also expressed confidence in a PDP victory across the state. The state PDP Chairman, Dr. Kingsley Esiso, celebrated the party’s preparedness and the people’s support.
Several prominent members of the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) even defected to the ruling PDP during the rally, pledging their support.
The rally also featured messages of support from the State House of Assembly Speaker, a House of Representatives member, and other senior political figures.
