Delta Governor May Switch to APC, PDP Leaders Claim

Some leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Delta State believe that Governor Sheriff Oborevwori might leave their party to join the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Although the governor’s spokesperson, Festus Ahon, and the PDP chairman in Delta State, Solomon Arenyeka, denied these rumors, a group called “Concerned Leaders of PDP” isn’t convinced. They think the governor’s actions and recent trips hint at a possible defection.

The group’s representatives, Mr. Theophilus Ekiyor, Mr. Ochuko Oghenekome, and Mr. Ezekiel Chukwudi, said they have strong evidence that the governor is planning to join the APC. They even claimed he recently met with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in Ghana to discuss this move.

The PDP leaders advised party members to stay alert and prepare for the 2027 elections. They said the governor’s defection would betray the trust of those who voted for him under the PDP banner. They also criticized the state PDP executives for not addressing the issue strongly enough.

The group stressed that they won’t let the governor’s rumored move weaken their party. “We will continue to protect the PDP and fight for the people of Delta State,” they said.

Governor Oborevwori has not directly addressed these concerns, leaving many people in Delta State waiting for answers.
