Asaba, Delta State – The Delta State Government has announced the postponement of the final matches of the 2025 Zenith/Delta Headmasters’ Cup Competition, earlier scheduled to hold on Thursday, November 13, 2025, at the Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba.
In a statement issued by the Ministry of Information, the government said the decision was taken in the interest of proper coordination and to ensure the event reflects the standard of excellence Delta State is known for in sports.
The announcement, signed by Harold Ojji for the Honourable Commissioner, expressed regret over any inconvenience the postponement may cause to football fans, participants, and other stakeholders.
“The Delta State Government regrets any inconveniences this change may cause and appreciates the understanding, patience, and continuous support of all Deltans and lovers of the game,” the statement read in part.
The government assured that a new date for the football finals would be announced soon, adding that it remains committed to delivering a well-organised, exciting, and memorable football final that embodies the true spirit of Delta sports excellence.
The Zenith/Delta Headmasters’ Cup is one of the state’s flagship grassroots football competitions, aimed at promoting sporting talent development among primary school pupils and fostering unity through sports across Delta communities.
