It was supposed to be just another night at a hotel in Ogun State. But by morning, the staff made a shocking discovery—a police officer, Inspector Haruna Mohammed, was found dead in his room. Now, the police are searching for a mysterious woman who was last seen with him.
What Happened?
Inspector Mohammed, who worked with the Ishashi Division of the Lagos State Police Command, checked into a hotel at Anthony Uzum Estate, Oyeyemi Akute, around 1:00 am on Saturday. He wasn’t alone—he was accompanied by an unidentified woman.
A few hours later, something strange happened. Around 6:00 am, the woman came to the hotel reception and asked for a bottle of tap water. Then, she disappeared.
By 8:52 am, the hotel manager went to check the room. The door was unlocked, and inside, they found the lifeless body of Inspector Mohammed.
A Difficult Investigation
At first, the police didn’t know he was an officer because there was no ID card on him—just a police uniform in his bag. But after further investigation, they confirmed his identity and informed his colleagues in Lagos.
Omolola Odutola, the spokesperson for the Ogun State Police Command, called his death “unnatural.” The police have now launched a manhunt to find the missing woman, who could hold the key to what really happened.
A Similar Case in Abuja
This isn’t the first time a police officer has been found dead in a hotel under mysterious circumstances. In January, a similar case happened in Abuja.
Inspector Lawal Ibrahim, from the Kwali Division in the FCT, checked into a hotel with a woman he met online. They spent the night together and had another intimate moment the next morning. Suddenly, Ibrahim’s breathing became strange, and he stopped responding.
The woman, Maryam Abba, tried to revive him by sprinkling water on him, but he didn’t wake up. She panicked and called for help. The hotel manager contacted the police, and Abba was arrested.
