Afrobeat singer and music executive, Davido has revealed how he confronted Morravey, Logos Olori, the new artists signed to his record label, DMW.
In a recent interview, Davido said he signed Morravey and Logos Olori into his records label in March 2023.
He said he became interested in signing Morravey after listening to her cover of Fireboy song on Instagram.
The singer said he was drawn to Morravey’s “unique voice” and could not help but comb through Instagram for her page, thereafter sent her a direct message, telling her to get ready to become “a star.”
According to OBO, Morravey has a voice that nobody has, stating that he was at home one day watching Instagram reels when he stumbled on her video.
Davido said “I saw her singing a cover of Fireboy’s song. Her voice was so amazing and I was like who is this girl because she wasn’t tagged on the post?
“I had to go into the comments and scrolled through over 400 comments to look for her name. I finally got her page and sent her a DM.
“I told her I’m going to make you a star. She didn’t believe it, she stopped replying but I told her this is real. She asked if she could call and I called.
“Her family was in the background and she was shocked. I told her I’ll call her back in a week and send her some money.
“I sent her some money to arrange herself and that I’ll send her a flight. I told her to come with a friend or producer or someone closest to her.
The plan was never for her to be on the album. I’ve started a creative house. The plan was for me to groom her and maybe drop a single in September.
“Her pen game is stupid. She came in and surprised everyone.”
Talking about Logos Olori, Davido said: “He wrote the hook on ‘Available’. I met him through Magic Sticks and Asake.”
“He will always come to the studio every time Magic comes. So on the last day of recording, I asked him how far and he has no platform and I told him to come with me.”
