The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has released fresh details on its ongoing recruitment exercise, which began on December 27, 2024, with 3,927 vacancies declared in the Superintendent, Inspectorate, and Customs Assistant cadres.
The Service said it received 573,523 applications, but only 286,697 candidates scaled through document checks and will now sit for a Computer-Based Test (CBT) from September 14 to 21, 2025.
NCS explained that the CBT will be conducted online, allowing candidates to write the exam from any location with strong internet. However, it must be done with a laptop or desktop computer fitted with a webcam. Mobile phones will not be accepted.
Candidates will undergo facial verification before logging in and are advised to maintain a neat appearance. The Service warned that the test software is sensitive to noise, body movement, and window-switching, any of which could cause automatic logout or disqualification for malpractice.
To prepare applicants, a mandatory pre-test session will hold two days before the exam. Each candidate will receive two links — one for the pre-test and another for the actual CBT. Applicants for the Superintendent Cadre (Level 8) will also take an additional CBT in the next phase.
The NCS stressed that the recruitment process is merit-based, transparent, and free of charge. It advised candidates to follow only official NCS communication channels and warned against making payments or relying on information from social media.
The update was signed by Abdullahi Maiwada, PhD, Assistant Comptroller of Customs and National Public Relations Officer, on behalf of the Comptroller-General of Customs, on September 10, 2025.
