City Boy Movement Drama: Chief Priest vs Fayose Goes Viral

A heated online exchange has erupted between celebrity businessman Pascal Okechukwu, popularly known as Cubana Chief Priest, and Isaac Fayose, brother of former Ekiti State governor Ayodele Fayose, following controversial comments about political loyalty and ethnic identity linked to President Bola Tinubu’s City Boy Movement.

The dispute began after Isaac Fayose posted a viral video on social media criticising Cubana Chief Priest’s perceived closeness to the pro-Tinubu political group. In the clip, Fayose questioned why some prominent Igbo figures publicly support politicians in power, sparking strong reactions across online platforms.

During the video, Fayose made remarks suggesting that some members of the Igbo ethnic group easily follow individuals who have influence, wealth, or political authority. Speaking mostly in Pidgin English, he also referenced the continued detention of Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) leader Nnamdi Kanu, alleging that many people from the region have moved on from the issue despite Kanu remaining in custody.

Fayose went further by comparing Kanu’s situation with that of Yoruba activist Sunday Adeyemo, also known as Sunday Igboho, whom he claimed had regained public acceptance after past controversies. He argued that the difference in public support showed how political and ethnic loyalties can shift depending on circumstances.

In the same video, Fayose mocked what he described as open displays of political allegiance by supporters, including the wearing of campaign materials and public endorsements of political figures. His comments quickly gained traction online and triggered backlash from many users who considered the remarks offensive and divisive.

Cubana Chief Priest responded days later on social media, defending his political alignment and explaining that his decisions are influenced by his role as an employer and entrepreneur. He argued that supporting those in power can help create a stable environment for businesses and investments, noting that many governors and political leaders also work closely with the federal administration.

The nightlife entrepreneur challenged Fayose to a public discussion about business and wealth creation, questioning the source of his critic’s influence and referencing the years Isaac Fayose’s brother spent in political office. He maintained that choosing cooperation over opposition was a strategic move rather than a betrayal of any cause.

Addressing the issue of Nnamdi Kanu’s detention, Cubana Chief Priest said he believes engaging with government authorities offers a better chance of achieving meaningful results than taking an oppositional stance. He described himself as someone balancing business interests with political realities rather than acting as a political activist.

He also reaffirmed his backing for President Bola Tinubu’s “Renewed Hope Agenda,” stating that he and his family prefer to support policies they believe could strengthen the economy. According to him, aligning with the current administration is part of a broader plan to ensure long-term growth and stability for his ventures.

Highlighting his contributions to development, the socialite listed his investments in hospitality and real estate, particularly in his home community. He said his projects have created employment opportunities and boosted local economic activity, arguing that his focus remains on entrepreneurship and community growth.

Cubana Chief Priest concluded by accusing Isaac Fayose of attempting to draw him into political opposition and stirring controversy for attention. He insisted that his priorities are business expansion, partnerships, and maintaining relationships that can help his enterprises thrive, rather than engaging in political activism.
