Umuezibe, Obingwa, in Abia State, was thrown into chaos after a shocking discovery at a local mortuary. The body of a young man, identified as Chimaobi, was found mutilated, with his testicles missing, sparking outrage among community members.
Chimaobi had reportedly died after being electrocuted while tampering with high-tension electricity cables in Abayi Okorator. His remains were taken to the mortuary for safekeeping, but when youths from his community arrived to retrieve his body, they discovered the disturbing mutilation.
Angered by the discovery, the youths stormed the mortuary, vandalizing property and attempting to attack the workers. Some of the attendants tried to escape but were quickly caught by the enraged crowd. The situation caused panic, as families rushed to the mortuary to retrieve the bodies of their loved ones, fearing further tampering. Some opted for immediate burial, while others transferred the remains to different facilities.
Police officers from the Eastern Ngwa division arrived to calm the situation and prevent further violence. The mortuary workers were taken into custody, but authorities have not yet released an official statement on the incident.
A senior police officer assured that investigations were ongoing to uncover the circumstances behind the alleged mutilation. The community is now waiting for answers as tension remains high in the area.
