Nigerian Grammy Award winner, Damini Ogulu, popularly known as Burna Boy, has been nominated in the 41st edition of the BRITs Award for the “Best International Act” category.
Burna Boy was nominated along with American singer and rapper, Donald Glover, veteran music icon, Bruce Springsteen, Record producer, Tame Impala, and Canadian singer, The Weekend.
Burna Boy 5th studio album received massive international claim and appreciation for its innovation, Africanness, and authenticity.
The ‘Twice As Tall’ album broke into the music charts across the world, peaked at number 1 world album on Billboard charts, it also attained the number 1 spot in more than 59 countries on Apple Music, the number spot in more than 13 countries on iTunes, number 1 on the UK iTunes & Apple Music chart and also topped most music charts across Africa.
Burna Boy has changed the narrative about African music and he has also triggered the importance of Africa voices being heard on a global scale.
Burna Boy with his recent wins at the Grammy award for the Best Global Music Album, the MTV European Music Awards (EMA) for ‘Best African Act’s, the All African Music Awards album of the year and also winning ‘Best International Act’s for the Black Entertainment (BET) awards and the 2020 Dutch Edison Award for ‘World Alvin’s has exploded the Nigerian music scene.
