Nigerian superstar, Damini Ogulu, better known as Burna Boy, has won the Best Global Music Album with his ‘Twice As Tall’ album at the 63rd Grammy Award.
Burna Boy won the award over four other nominees including Antibalas (FU Chronicles), Bebel Gilberto (Agora), Anoushka Shankar (Love Letters), and Tinariwen (Amadjar).
The award win marks Burna
Boy’s first Grammy Awards after being nominated and losing to Angelique Kidjo for the 2020 edition of the Grammy.
Burna Boy happened to be the first winner of this category after its name was recently changed by the Recording Academy in November as it was formerly known as Best World Music Album.
The Grammys nomination however described ‘Twice As Tall’ album as a masterclass in its vibes as its hustle has made Burna Boy an international musical force
The album ‘Twice As Tall’ which had Sean Combs as an executive producer also features a wide spectrum of international artists including Stormzy, Youssou Ndour, Naughty By Nature, and Chris Martin of Coldplay.
