President Muhammadu Buhari has uncovered a photo book on Nigeria’s history titled ‘Discover Nigeria.’
The photobook, ‘Discover Nigeria’ has 392-page with illustrations covering the period from independence in 1960 till the present day.
The ‘Discover Nigeria’ which has been described as “the world’s largest pictorial book” was unveiled on Thursday at the statehouse banquet center in Abuja.
The pictorial book was designed by Buhari’s official photographer, Bayo Omoboriowo, who showcases traditional institutions, landscapes, farmlands, stunning waterfalls, and seas, among others.
According to Omoboriowo, the 60 sqm book is contending for the Guinness World Record largest photobook.
He said “The previous record for the largest photo book is 45 sqm. The ‘Discover Nigeria’ book has been printed and mounted as a 60 sqm giant frame book, 60 images, 60 pages, 60 square meters, celebrating Nigeria at 60.”
The president photographer also said that the book exhibition was invented as part of Nigeria’s diamond celebration.
The event was attended by governors, traditional rulers, members of the diplomatic corps, the business community, and stakeholders in the creative industry.
Over 60 young Nigerians were said to have taken part in the construction of the giant frame book mounted at the statehouse conference center (formerly banquet hall), the venue of the event.
Sharing the news, the president’s assistant on broadcast media, Buhari Sallau, took to his Instagram page to share some photos from the event.
