President Muhammadu Buhari has jetted to Paris, France to attend a four days African Finance Summit hosted by the French President, Emmanuel Macron.
This was made known in a statement that was released by President Spokesman, Garba Shehu while revealing that the focus of the Summit is to review the African economy over the impacts of the Coronavirus pandemic and also to get relief from the debt burden on countries.
According to the statement, the Summit will also attract major stakeholders in the global economic organizations and some Heads of Government who will discuss collectively the issue of external funding and debt procedure for Africa and private sector reforms.
The statement also revealed that the President will meet with Macron to discuss security challenges in the Sahel and Lake Chad region, political relations, economic ties, climate change, and partnership in the health sector most importantly in the areas of checking the spread of Covid-19 with more research and vaccines.
Also in the statement revealed that the President before returning to Nigeria will receive some key players in the oil and gas sector, both in engineering and telecommunications, the European Council, the European Union Representative for Foreign and Security Policy Commission, and members of the Nigerian community.
However, those that accompany the President is the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama, Minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning, Zainab Shamsuna Ahmed, Minister of Trade and Investment, Otunba Adeniyi Adebayo, and Minister of Health, Dr. Osagie Ehanire.
Others are National Security Adviser, Maj. Gen. Babagana Mohammed Monguno (rtd) and Ahmed Rufai Abubakar, the Director General of National Intelligence Agency (NIA).
