Popular Nigerian comedian, skit maker and social media influencer Samuel Perry, widely known as Broda Shaggy, has reportedly been hospitalised after allegedly sustaining a gunshot injury.
The incident reportedly happened on Sunday afternoon in the Sango-Ota area of Ogun State while the comedian was filming a comedy skit with members of his production crew. According to early accounts from people present during the shoot, a gunshot was heard during the filming process, after which the entertainer was discovered to have been injured.
Sources familiar with the situation said the comedian was quickly taken away from the filming location by members of his team and rushed for medical attention. The exact details of how the gun was discharged and whether it was accidental or intentional are still unclear as investigations continue.
He was first taken to Blooming Care Hospital in the Alakuko area of Lagos State, where doctors reportedly provided emergency medical care to stabilise him.
Due to the nature of the injury, he was later transferred to Duchess Hospital located in the Government Residential Area (GRA), Ikeja, for further treatment and specialised care.
The Lagos State Police Command confirmed that the hospital alerted law enforcement authorities after a gunshot victim was brought into the facility. Officers who arrived at the hospital reportedly found the comedian lying on a stretcher with an injury on his thigh.
Police spokesperson Abimbola Adebisi explained that the incident reportedly took place in Sango-Ota, which falls under Ogun State, meaning it is outside the jurisdiction of the Lagos State command. However, she added that authorities are still making efforts to gather more information about what happened.
Meanwhile, the Ogun State Police Command stated that, as of the time of the report, the incident had not yet been formally reported to the command. However, officers are expected to look into the matter once an official complaint is filed or further details emerge.
