Tension in Kaduna airport on Saturday as bandits prevented AZMAN aircraft from taking off.
It was gathered that the aircraft was planned for Lagos on Saturday when the bandits stormed the runaway causing the officials of the airline and passengers to run for their safety.
The bandits also shot and killed one staff of the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA), around the runway of the airport, a source disclosed to newsmen.
According to the source, Shehu Na’Allah was shot and killed by the bandits around the runway area of the airport, a staff of the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA).
The source said that the AZMAN aircraft could not take off at about 12.30 pm because of the presence of the bandits by the runways of the airport.
‘’As I speak to you now, there is already military presence to beef up security, though most of the staff are scared with the killing of the NAMA staff, the source said.
The source also said more than 10 trucks of the military are at the airport presently for reinforcement.
Confirming the incident, the manager of the Airport, Mrs. Amina Salami, said the bandits invaded the airport through the perimeter fence from a nearby forest at about 1 pm on Saturday and started shooting sporadically to scare the workers.
