Atiku is the most preferred candidate when Nigerians will tick the boxes – Aniagwu says amid Obasanjo, Clark endorsement

The Delta State Commissioner of Information who also doubles as the spokesperson of the Atiku/Okowa Presidential Campaign Council, Mr. Charles Aniagwu has said the reason why the People’s Democratic Party is not disturbed by any endorsement coming from anywhere is that most Nigerians believe that Atiku Abubakar is the most preferred candidate for the presidency.

The commissioner stated this in Asaba on Friday during a press briefing saying the PDP campaign Council will not lambaste former president Olusegun Obasanjo and Chief Edwin Clark for endorsing the Labour Party Presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, or any form of endorsement that is coming from anywhere on who becomes the next president of Nigeria.

He said “One thing every Nigerian irrespective of the political party is grief about is the poor state of the country whether in the area of the economy, insecurity, unity, or the area of advancement.

Mr. Aniagwu said since everyone is almost on the same page regarding those troubling issues, he believes when the majority started ticking the boxes, Atiku will be the first to fill the gap in most of those boxes because he is seen as the most preferred candidate.

“That is the reason why we are not disturbed about any endorsement coming from anywhere because most Nigerians believe by the special grace of God that they have already endorsed Atiku and they are going to practicalize such endorsement come 25th of February when they will come out at the poll to elect Atiku Abubakar and Ifeanyi Okowa as the President and Vice President of the federal republic of Nigeria.”

Explaining, the spokesperson of the Atiku/Okowa Presidential Campaign Council recalls what happened during the PDP campaign that was held in Oyo state on Thursday, stating that one man wants to ascribe himself with the power to decide who the people should vote for but the people exercise their democratic and constitutional rights by making it very clear that Atiku is their choice.

“We told you the last time that our train left the train station and the beauty of it is that, despite the speed of the train, it is been captained by a very efficient and effective Captain. Another beauty of that train is that it has been very active with the Japan-United States confirmed brake pads and the moment the captain applied the brake at any train station, the train will stop to pick up hesitant passengers.”

“As we speak, I’m sure you see the level of inflow from other political parties into the PDP? I’m talking about notable Nigerians, anywhere they are coming from, our brake pads have shown that it is indeed made in Japan with American specifications and they are working very well.”

“As we move this year, we’ll maintain the same speed and indeed increase the momentum but always willing to stop at necessary bus stops or train stations to pick up more passengers. And if along the line, the members of the G5 decided to hop in, we will give them a comfortable seat to sit down and also give them the right place to occupy on that train.”

Mr. Anaigwu also commended the party’s patriots in Oyo state for demonstrating their support for Atiku as their preferred candidate despite what has been cooked out over there.

“It is their choice as nobody asked them who mobilized them, we didn’t mobilize them and those who mobilize them did not foresee what was to come.”

Imagine when you mobilize people and they came to your gathering and they are telling you that the road you are passing doesn’t suit to be the right way. They were trying to play the music to downplay the Atiku-Atiku sign but the music wasn’t loud enough, he said.

“Though we still have time for any of the presidential candidates that want to step down for Atiku, we’ll welcome them so that at the end of the day, we will not leave them out. We will bring them in for them to bring in the little ideas they have because we are determined to form a government of national unity.”

While still speaking, Mr. Aniagwu take a swipe at the deputy senate President who also is the governorship candidate of the All Progressive Congress in Delta State, Sen. Ovie Omo Agege, by asking journalists why they haven’t been able to question the APC candidate on why he had not spoken to deltans about what he wanted to do for them, according to the commission, he has not heard any promise made by the APC candidate to deltans.

He said “I can tell you what Oborovwori says he wants to do for Deltans, “THE MORE AGENDA” by Oborovwori is looking out on how to sustain the number of projects and policies that the Okowa administration has put in place for the past seven and half years.

“Oborovwori is very clear on what he wants to do concerning infrastructure, what he wants to do to deepen the peace and harmony that exist in the state, what he wants to do to increase the number of job creation so that our people will become entrepreneurs, and what he wants to do to open our urban areas, he is very clear.

“So as a governorship candidate, he must tell the people what he wants to do and not look for means to cast aspersions on a man who is not on the same ballot with him, Governor Okowa is not contesting to be the governor of Delta State.

“We are urging and advising our brother who forgot to remember that he was supposed to represent us in Abuja because all the federal roads he never drew the attention of the federal government, not even one kilometer he never did. Or is there any place where you can see the federal government people working in Delta, Aniagwu asked.

“Those were supposed to be some of his responsibilities, particularly being the deputy Senate President of the upper legislative chamber.”

While still faulting the APC candidate for accusing Governor Okowa’s administration that they are not working, he said “When others are busy thinking about what they will take to their place, the deputy senate President is thinking about how to approach the maze, later, he will say we are not working.

“Please, use your medium and advice him that we don’t begrudge him, we respect his democratic rights to contest for election but he should always be able to speak the truth to Deltans because deltans are very much informed. He should stop thinking about the propaganda of 2015 that he wants to bring up now by raising issues that don’t add up, Aniagwu stated.
