During the inauguration of the 61-member Contact and Strategy Committee on Tuesday at the APC National Secretariat in Abuja, the Chairman of the Caretaker/Convention Planning Committee of the All Progressive Congress, Mai Mai Buni, revealed plans for the party to work towards retaining power for at least 32 years.
The Convention Committee Chairman while explaining the needs why the party which to be in power for at least 32 years said, the party needs to be in power to consolidate the delivery of the dividends of democracy.
Buni who also doubles as the governor of Yobe state explained that the party under his leadership had achieved a lot.
He said, “The constitution of the Strategy and Contact Committee, therefore, is to consolidate the achievements we are making in building a strong party with a solid structure that would accomplish APC to stand the test of time.
According to him while explaining the vision of the newly inaugurated committee, he said, Our vision is to provide a wheel that will drive the party to go beyond the 6th, 7th, and even 8th terms of office to effectively implement the party manifesto, improve the lives of Nigerians and remain Nigeria’s leading political party.
He continued, “This committee is therefore very key to our process of transition towards successful congresses and national convention and to establish a very solid, reputable, and reliable future for the party.”
He also said the committee will be chaired by the Jigawa State governor, Badaru Abubakar.
While responding, Badaru pledged that the committee would take the necessary steps to achieve its objectives.
Badaru also revealed the success recorded by the Buni-led caretaker committee.
He said, “The APC had so far registered and revalidated the membership of about 36 million members across the country.
