Anti-open grazing bill passes the first reading in Delta

The Delta State House of Assembly has proposed a bill to prohibit open grazing in the state.

The bill passes its first reading in the State House of Assembly on Tuesday and it involves the regulation of livestock grazing, rearing, marketing, and other related matters.

The bill was moved by Oghenerume Yakubu, a member representing Ughelli South Constituency, and was seconded by Christopher Ochor, the Deputy Speaker of the House.

Meanwhile, the Speaker of the House, Sheriff Oborevwori slated Wednesday, July 14, 2021, for the second reading of the bill.

Recall, on Monday, July 5, 2021, the 17 Southern Governors from their forum meeting held in Lagos recently has set a timeline of Wednesday, September 2021 for the promulgation of the anti-open grazing law in all member states.
