Aniocha South LP Chairmanship Candidate Heads for Election Petition Tribunal, Citing Electoral Fraud

In a major development following the recently concluded local government polls held on Saturday, July 13, 2024, Prince Ferdinand Obaugo Chukwudi, the Labour Party (LP) Chairmanship Candidate for Aniocha South, has decided to challenge the declaration of Pastor Jude Chukwunweike of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) as the winner. Prince Chukwudi is taking his case to the Delta State Local Government Election Petition Tribunal, citing various instances of electoral fraud.

Prince Chukwudi has outlined a series of grievances that he believes affected the integrity of the election process. Firstly, he alleges that there were no election materials available at the polling units, which raises concerns about the fairness and transparency of the voting process.

Furthermore, Prince Chukwudi claims that he, as a Chairmanship Candidate, was intentionally disenfranchised, suggesting a deliberate attempt to sideline him from participating in the electoral process.

Another issue raised by Prince Chukwudi is the alleged affiliation of all the DESEIC ad-hoc staff with the PDP. This raises suspicions of bias and questions the impartiality of the election officials.

Additionally, Prince Chukwudi points out that none of the Labour Party’s agents signed any result sheets, casting doubt on the accuracy and legitimacy of the declared election results.

Prince Chukwudi also accuses the security agents, particularly the police, of aiding the PDP in their alleged misconduct, further adding to his concerns about the fairness of the election.

In light of these grievances, Prince Chukwudi deems the declaration of Pastor Jude Chukwunweike as the PDP Chairmanship Candidate as not only foul but also criminal, asserting the need for a thorough investigation into the matter.

The election petition tribunal will now play a crucial role in examining the evidence presented by Prince Chukwudi and determining whether the alleged electoral fraud had a significant impact on the outcome of the election.
