The Federal Government of Nigeria has declared Monday, March 31, and Tuesday, April 1, 2025, as public holidays. This is to allow Muslims across the country to celebrate Eid-el-Fitr, a special festival that marks the end of the Ramadan fasting period.
The announcement was made on Wednesday by the Minister of Interior, Dr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, on behalf of the government. He congratulated all Muslims for completing Ramadan, a month of fasting, prayer, and self-discipline.
Dr. Tunji-Ojo encouraged Muslims to continue showing kindness, love, forgiveness, and peace, as these values help build a better society. He also reminded Nigerians to use this time to pray for the country’s peace, progress, and unity.
The statement was signed by Dr. Magdalene Ajani, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior.
This means that on March 31 and April 1, schools, banks, and government offices will be closed so that everyone can celebrate and enjoy the holiday.
