The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), has reportedly seized the passport of Obi Cubana, a popular socialite, and business mogul.
On Monday, the operatives of the EFCC arrested, Obinna Iyiegbu, popularly known as Obi Cubana for alleged money laundering and tax fraud.
Goldennationblog.com gathered that the seizure of his travel document was to prevent him from leaving the country while under investigation.
Source revealed on Tuesday that the Anambra-born social media influencer is still with the anti-graft agency spending his second day at EFCC Headquarters inJabi, Abuja.
According to the source, he said “Obi Cubana has not been released, he is still having quality sessions with investigators over alleged money laundering running into millions of naira and tax fraud.
“He will be released when he has satisfactorily responded to all questions relating to his involvement in various illegal deals. As part of the investigation, his travel document has been temporarily seized pending the conclusion of investigations.”
Meanwhile, the spokesman for EFCC, Wilson Uwujaren, confirmed that the suspect is still in custody, but said he does not know about the usurpation of his passport.
