In a remarkable display of camaraderie and support, Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, inaugurated the much-anticipated Okpanam-Ibusa Bypass in Oshimili North Local Government Area of Delta State.
The event was marked by warm greetings and appreciation for Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and the people of Delta State.
Expressing his gratitude during the inauguration ceremony, Governor Adeleke lauded Governor Oborevwori’s outstanding performance, highlighting his dedication to the welfare of the people. He commended the Governor’s commitment to the “MORE Agenda,” emphasizing the importance of delivering more projects that would benefit the people of Delta State.
Governor Adeleke drew a parallel between his own endeavors in Osun State and Governor Oborevwori’s accomplishments, emphasizing their shared commitment to transforming their respective states. He expressed his conviction that Governor Oborevwori’s leadership would continue to bring positive change to Delta State, urging the people to lend their unwavering support.
“In Osun State, I have dedicated myself to turning the state into a construction site,” Governor Adeleke stated proudly. “Likewise, Governor Oborevwori is doing phenomenal work here in Delta. I applaud him for working tirelessly for the people who entrusted him with their mandate. I am here today to celebrate his achievements and inaugurate this road.”
Governor Oborevwori, in his address, assured the people of Delta State that the upcoming local government elections, scheduled for July 13, would be conducted with utmost fairness, transparency, and credibility. He urged all candidates, irrespective of their political affiliations, to engage in rigorous campaigns and showcase their capabilities to the electorate.
Addressing the candidates, Governor Oborevwori stressed the importance of upholding democratic principles and the rule of law. He warned against complacency, reminding them that the elections would be closely monitored to ensure a level playing field. He encouraged candidates to connect with the people, demonstrate their competence, and prove their worthiness for the positions they seek.
Furthermore, Governor Oborevwori assured the traditional rulers present that their requests, made during the inauguration ceremony, had been duly noted. He pledged to address their concerns and work towards meeting their expectations.
The Okpanam-Ibusa Bypass, constructed under the visionary initiative of former Governor Senator Ifeanyi Okowa and completed by Governor Oborevwori’s administration, was hailed as a significant development by the Obuzor of Ibusa, Obi Professor Louis Nwoboshi, and the Ugoani of Okpanam Kingdom, Obi Michael Mbanefo. Both traditional rulers expressed their gratitude to Governor Oborevwori for fulfilling this long-awaited dream of the local government area.
While appreciating the completion of the Okpanam-Ibusa Bypass, the traditional rulers also appealed to Governor Oborevwori to consider linking Okpanam and Akwukwu-Igbo, as well as Okpanam and Ugbolu, to facilitate seamless navigation within the council area. They also requested the installation of proper lighting along the road to enhance safety and visibility.
The Commissioner for Works (Highways and Urban Roads), Comrade Reuben Izeze, provided technical details of the 5.3km road, highlighting its purpose of mitigating flooding and improving transportation efficiency along the corridor.
As the people of Delta State celebrate the successful completion of the Okpanam-Ibusa Bypass, Governor Oborevwori’s administration remains committed to delivering more transformative projects and upholding the principles of democracy in the upcoming local government elections.
