2027 Politics: Delta Govt Rejects Claims of Bias Against Governor

Asaba – Delta State Commissioner for Works (Rural Roads) and Public Information, Mr. Charles Aniagwu, has dismissed allegations that Governor Sheriff Oborevwori is running a biased government.

Aniagwu, who addressed journalists in Asaba on Monday alongside the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon, described the criticisms as “false narratives” being pushed by political opponents ahead of the 2027 elections.

According to him, Governor Oborevwori has always governed with fairness and inclusiveness, ensuring that projects, appointments, and development initiatives reach all 25 local government areas of the state.

“The governor knows indeed that he is an Urhobo man, but he also realizes that he is governor of the entire state,” Aniagwu said. “He has continued to pilot the affairs of Delta not along ethnic lines but with fairness, equity, and inclusiveness.”

Aniagwu highlighted the governor’s four-point agenda, stressing that peace and security remain central to his administration. He revealed that the governor recently set up a peace and reconciliation committee to engage with aggrieved individuals, saying that peace was vital for meaningful growth and development.

The commissioner further urged politicians to avoid divisive politics and instead support the administration’s efforts to improve the lives of citizens.

He pointed to ongoing projects across both riverine and upland communities, as well as investments in education and social programmes aimed at reducing poverty.

“The commitment of Governor Oborevwori to a peaceful and prosperous Delta is unshaken,” Aniagwu declared. “He has carried everybody along and his governance style values all Deltans as one people.”

Aniagwu insisted that none of the governor’s critics could fault his performance, adding that the administration would remain focused on delivering good governance across the state.
