Idumuje-Ugboko, Delta State – April 23, 2025 – Senator Ned Nwoko, who represents Delta North in the Senate, has said that the only political party that can create Anioma State is the All Progressives Congress (APC) – the ruling party in Nigeria. He believes that neither the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) nor the Labour Party can make Anioma State a reality.
Senator Nwoko said this on Sunday, April 23, 2025, while speaking with journalists in his hometown, Idumuje-Ugboko. He explained that for Anioma people to get their state, they must support and join the APC. He also said that even the Governor of Delta State is thinking about joining the APC because the PDP is losing power.
“The president has promised to help make Anioma State happen,” Senator Nwoko said. “That’s why people are joining APC, including your governor.”
What Is Anioma State?
Anioma State is a proposed new state that would be created out of part of Delta State, with Asaba as its capital. If this happens, Delta State would be split into two states – one for the Anioma people (Delta North) and another for the central and southern parts of the state. The new state could be called something like “New Delta”, and its capital might be in Warri.
Senator Nwoko’s Work as a Lawmaker
Senator Nwoko also talked about how busy he has been in the Senate. He said he is part of many important committees that work on issues like:
- Police
- EFCC (Economic and Financial Crimes Commission)
- NDLEA (Drug Control)
- Finance
- Petroleum and Gas
- Education
- Roads and more
He said he has worked on 27 bills (ideas for new laws), but the most special one for him is the bill to create Anioma State.
“Other bills help the whole country, but the Anioma State bill is for my people,” he said.
Promises from the APC
Senator Nwoko said he didn’t just join APC for fun. He joined because the President, the Senate President, and the APC National Chairman made promises to him. They said:
- They will finish the Okpai Power Plant to provide electricity.
- They will complete the Ogwashi-Uku Dam.
- They will build a new dam in Idumuje-Ugboko.
These projects will help the Anioma people get better infrastructure and services.
Big Announcement by APC National Chairman
A few days earlier, Alhaji Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, the APC National Chairman, visited Agbor in Ika South Local Government Area. During a big rally where thousands of people attended, he announced that the creation of Anioma State was now a “done deal.”
He said that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and other APC leaders fully support it.

“Anioma State is no longer a dream – it is real,” said Ganduje. “We are doing this to bring fairness and development.”
Many people from PDP and another group called Delta United Group (DUG) also joined APC during the rally. It showed that more people are starting to believe in what APC is doing.
What This Means
Senator Nwoko believes that creating Anioma State will bring more development and fairness to the people of Delta North. He says it is like how Bendel State was split into Edo and Delta a long time ago.
He encouraged everyone in Delta to think about the future and support the party that can truly make things happen.
“To get our state, we must come together and fight for our future,” he said. “APC has promised to stand with us.”
In Simple Words
Senator Nwoko wants a new state called Anioma for his people. He says only the APC can make it happen, and he’s working very hard to make sure it does. Other leaders in the APC are also supporting this idea, and many people are joining the party because they believe it will bring good things to Delta State.
