Governor Oborevwori Commends Delta State’s Financial Achievements at Assembly Anniversary

In a remarkable display of resilience, Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, announced the state’s significant strides in infrastructural and human capital development, despite the economic hardships plaguing the nation.

Speaking at the 1st Anniversary Thanksgiving service of the 8th Delta State House of Assembly, Governor Oborevwori emphasized that the state had managed to make impressive progress without resorting to borrowing funds for projects.

Addressing the congregation gathered at the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Region 34 Headquarters, Unity Model Parish, Governor Oborevwori expressed his gratitude for the state’s blessings, which often go unnoticed by those outside its borders. He acknowledged the presence of peace and progress within Delta State, a testament to the state’s resilience during these challenging times.

“We are experiencing abundance even amidst these difficult times in Nigeria. Remarkably, Delta State has not resorted to borrowing over the past year,” Governor Oborevwori proudly proclaimed.

Governor Oborevwori urged members of the House to continue serving the people with integrity and the fear of God, assuring them that the state would be blessed to become one of the best in the country.

The Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Guwor, also spoke during the ceremony, expressing gratitude for God’s mercy over the past year and celebrating the first anniversary of the 8th Assembly, which was inaugurated on June 13, 2023.

Speaker Guwor commended Governor Oborevwori’s deep understanding of the workings of the State House of Assembly, which has facilitated a strong partnership between the Assembly and the Executive. He expressed appreciation for the cooperation among the Assembly members, acknowledging their support and partnership in achieving their goals.

Highlighting the Assembly’s achievements, Speaker Guwor announced that out of the 18 bills received, both from the Executive and private members, nine have already been passed, with three already receiving the Governor’s assent. He attributed the success to the trust and confidence Deltans have placed in the House, promising that they would continue to live up to these expectations.

In his sermon, Pastor Olufemi Olumide, the Region 34 Pastor of the Redeemed Christian Church of God in Asaba, emphasized the power of thanksgiving in opening doors. He commended the 8th House of Assembly for expressing their gratitude to God through the thanksgiving ceremony. Pastor Olumide also noted that the 8th Assembly symbolized a new beginning for the State legislature, allowing Christ to take center stage in the affairs of the State.

With Delta State’s commitment to progress and development, it is evident that they are determined to overcome the economic challenges facing the country and emerge as a shining example of growth and resilience.
